So, the alarm went off so early on Wednesday morning, but we were up and at 'em on time. We got picked up at 4:15 and made it to the airport on time. Everything was going great until Neil's pump crapped out just as we were going through security! He took it off and since his extra pumps were in the suitcase we had checked, he had to fly cross country without any insulin. Thankfully, it all worked out and he was able to put a new pump on when we got to Vancouver. From there, we travelled to Victoria (a 2 1/2 hour trip from Vancouver). Needless to say, it was a very long day, but successful. Had a great dinner and visit with Bob and Chris, and managed to stay awake until 9:30 (12:30 a.m. East coast time).
On Thursday, Bob and Chris took us on a wonderful tour of Victoria. What a beautiful city! Then we boarded a ferry back to the U.S. and stayed the night in Port Angeles, Washington. There was a screw-up with our rental car on Friday morning, but we worked it out and headed out on the first day of our road trip.
How beautiful it was driving through the National Olympic Forest! The roads twisted and turned and around every corner was another incredible sight! It was fabulous! At some points, I felt like we were miniature people. Some of these trees were ginormous!
The rest of the ride was incredible and seeing the Pacific Ocean through the trees for the first time was amazing! We made it into Oregon before nightfall as hoped and are settled into a fabulous hotel by the beach in Cannon Beach, just in time to watch the sunset...another amazing sight!
We'll check in again soon. Love you all!
Jayne and Neil
